Steel and Rye Bakery Team Member, BOH
The Bakery at Steel & Rye is an in-house bread-focused bakery which serves both the public (at our Bakery Cafe Counter) and our two restaurants: Steel & Rye in Milton, and Prairie Fire in Brookline. The menu encapsulates a sourdough bread program, laminated pastries and comforting, seasonal pastries like coffee cake and muffins.
The Bakery is seeking a Bakery Team Member with professional experience or culinary training. Must have a strong attention to detail, be punctual and reliable.
This position is part-time, working Thursdays - Sundays, 10am - 6pm. This candidate will complete training in all areas of S&R pastry and bread production while working closely with the Bakery Team, then move on to work independently for the closing hours of their shifts. Must have reliable transportation to Milton.
Compensation is based on experience, starting at $20 per hour. Benefits include employee discounts and a free on-shift meal.
Essential Skills:
Practical knowledge of bread (mixing, shaping, baking) and pastry methods
Familiar with reading recipes, operating commercial baking equipment (mixers, ovens, etc), and scaling ingredients.
Availability both weekdays and weekends
Self-motivated and able to work independently for majority of each shift
Work in a clean and organized manner
Maintain all food safety and sanitation standards.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift 50 lbs.
Ideally 2 years of Professional Baking experience or culinary degree
Expected hours: 28-32 hours per week
